Avalokitesvara (Tib. Chenrezik) is the Buddha of Compassion and his 6-Syllable Mantra of om mani padme hung " is the most commonly repeated mantra among many Buddhists. In the Lotus Sutra, it is said that Avalokitesvara's compassion will deliver anyone from any danger if they "merely think" of him. In China, he is often imagined as female and is known as Guanyin (Jap. Kannon, Kor.
